Paradise Found
We just returned from our first family vacation - a trip to Club Med Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Anna got to play in the Baby Club Med during the day while her parents went off kayaking, sailing, archery, snorkling, and or just enjoyed relaxing on the beach. The majority of the people there spoke French and Spanish - at one point we couldn't help but wonder if Anna's first word was going to be Hola or Bonjour!
The view we enjoyed while eating breakfast and lunch..
Anna got to go swimming everyday....the hardest part was deciding which pool to go to...do we go to the one with the slide? The one with the fountain? Or the kid's pool next to the bar with the free drinks? I think many of you know which pool we went to!
But if I had to pick Anna's favorite vacation activity it would have to be playing in the sand!
Hmmm...what is this stuff???
Hey this is fun!!!
And with the discovery of sand comes other new discoveries....like palm trees...

The sand is very distracting......
Anna has discovered the ocean...one giant bath!
She stops and stares for a bit....
And then crawls right in!
Anna found it hilarious when the "waves" would hit her!
And then we decided to put her in her float and set her off...
Oh what fun it is playing in the ocean!
Anna also played in the grass..
Alastair and I enjoyed kayaking
Everyday Alastair went sailing
Anna enjoyed relaxing on the porch...
And after a long day she caught a ride in her stroller and wore her Mommy's shades...
This is Anna with a French boy that just fell in love with her at dinner one night. The two could not stop laughing at each other....he kept patting her head and Anna would laugh hysterically. His parents kept telling hime to leave the baby alone but he kept insisting NO! it was his baby! He wasn't satisfied until his parents told him they would buy him a baby!
Anna also decided she liked walking while on vacation....she's not walking independently yet but she suddenly loves it when Daddy holds her hands and helps her walk.

Anna also had her first celebrity sighting...as we were leaving the airport I walked past a man talking on his phone. I glanced over and as I took my next step I realized it was Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. So I turned around, pointed to Steven Tyler and said to Anna,"This is your first celebrity sighting". I don't know if Steven Tyler was amused but I did see his really big bodyguard laugh!

Fall in Love
Don't you just love fall? It's such a great time of year...the leaves are changing their colors, the mornings have a cool crisp feeling, the afternoons are full of blue skies....the perfect day for visiting the local pumpkin patch. I had this great vision of taking Anna to the pumpkin patch and taking that perfect photo of her smiling next to the Great Pumpkin...of course Anna being a typical 12 month old had more fun playing with the hay and wasn't too interested in any pumpkins!
Anna is becoming more and more independent...especially when it comes to feeding herself! And since she hasn't quite grasped the concept of a spoon it all comes down to using her hands. And who can resist a photo of a baby covered in pasta sauce? I admit freely that I encouraged the messy face you see in the photos - I couldn't help it! It was just so funny and Anna looked so proud of herself..I love my little pasta monster!

All for ONE and ONE for all
Happy Birthday to Anna! Today Anna turned 1!
She spent the day lounging on her new pink chair having conversations with Elmo...
Getting cuddles from Mommy.....
And cuddles from Daddy...
And then Anna had some cake....she was a little unsure at first..
But she soon realized the yumminess of chocolate icing!
When I turned one, I dove right into my chocolate cake!
This week Anna has become obsessed with getting on all fours...
And then looking at you from between her legs! I laugh hysterically every time she does it!
