Ice, Ice Baby

Why go for a walk when you can ski!? Alastair took advantage of our snowy and icy streets by dusting off his skis and cruising around the neighborhood. It may not be the same as skiing in the Sierra's but it was still fun to do!

Let it Snow!

They said the snow was coming and for once the local weather team was right! We're "snowed in" right now...we got almost 5 inches of snow last night! I know it doesn't sound like a lot but it only takes a little bit of snow to shut town the city of Nashville! The roads are icy and the scenery is white..our own little winter wonderland. The perfect weather for a winter walk followed by a cozy fire. Anna turns 4 months next week and has reached more milestones including laughing out loud and rolling over. Rolling over is Anna's new favorite...the minute you lay her on her back she immediately starts to roll over!

Getting into position to roll....

Leg and arm goes this way....

I did it!!!

The face of satisfaction!

The view from our porch

Our street covered in snow and ice!

And we thought Anna wouldn't wear her snowsuit again after Scotland!

Anna has something to say

We're not exactly sure what Anna is trying to say but she sure is doing a lot of "talking"! This weekend we got to enjoy many conversations with Anna...she's babbling, cooing and just smiling at everything! Play time has also become more interactive with Anna reaching for favorite toys. And of course anything she grabs goes directly into her mouth...oh the beauty and fun of drool!!

Here is Anna in her German Baby outfit...a gift from Auntie Lyn from her travels in Germany over the holidays.

The next Beethoven!? Anna has taken a new love of her play piano.

The Long Journey Home

So did you hear about the security breach at Newark Airport last Sunday? We did - when we arrived at Glasgow Airport at 6:30 am to check in for our 9 am flight (love those new TSA guidelines to arrive early for your flight!) Since our flight was originating from Newark we were delayed until 3 pm! Which of course meant we would miss our connecting flight home to Nashville. After standing in the check in line for over 2 hours we found out that the only available flight to Nashville would be at 6:30am Tuesday morning...hello 12 hour overnight layover in Newark! The thought of sleeping with a 3 month old in an airport was pretty miserable until we remembered that Alastair had bought travel insurance! When we finally landed at Newark we called the travel insurnace and found out that we were covered for a hotel room - oh happy day! My advice to everyone is to buy travel insurance! Being able to sleep in a bed and take a shower made a huge difference in our world! Of course Anna was a rock star throughout the whole ordeal. She kept us amused while we were wasting time at Glasgow and chose to start making the letter O sound and constant smiling and laughing - we were glad she found the whole thing hilarious! She then slept the entire time on the 7 hour flight to Newark. We finally got back to Nashville 34 hours after our journey began and Anna never fussed one bit. Something also has to be said about the kindness of stangers. As we waited in line at Glasgow a very nice woman also in line told us she lived in town and would be going home for the delay and offered us any diapers or anything else we needed since she also was travelling with an infant. She also gave us us her food vouchers since she wouldn't be using them. We're slowly getting back to normal here with our biggest challenge getting Anna's schedule back in thr right time zone!

Nothing beats a Comrie House fire...Anna found lying in front of it the perfect place for a nap!
