Farm and the City

Toronto is a big city with lots to see and do.... what was the first big city attraction we went to see? Riverdale Farm - a real working farm in the middle of the city! And what a wonderful place it was... walking around the farm you felt you could be in the country and not only blocks from the bustling city center. The best part of the farm though was that it was free!!
Anna loves animal sounds so we couldn't wait to see how she reacted to all the animals... she was a little afraid of the chickens. She especially didn't like it when the rooster ruffled his feathers!
The horse was a favorite... Anna kept yelling Neigh!!!!!
The pigs were fun but the real excitement happened when Alastair had to jump into the pen to save another couple's kids toy from the hungry pigs!
Anna also really liked the goats... the only problem she kept barking at them because she thought they were dogs!
Shopping in Chinatown has become a favorite activity... the fruit is so cheap! Strawberries were 2 for $3.00 and raspberries were 2 for $2.00!!

But as much as Anna liked the farm and shopping her favorite thing about Toronto is probably her new big backyard to run around in. And to make the bakyard even more fun Auntie Lyn sent Anna this water table...

Welcome to Canada!

We've been in Toronto a week now and are slowly settling in and finding our way around. Right now we're staying in a temporary apartment while we wait for our goods to arrive from Tennessee. Our cars arrived today and hopefully our furniture etc. will be delivered to our new home on Wednesday. But until then we are enjoying the luxury of staying in midtown where we're close to just about everything...including only 2 blocks from Alastair's work! And while Alastair is off at work Anna and I get to go and explore our new city!
We've explored our local library...
We found a great park only a few blocks away that has an amazing water feature for kids to play in...
Anna loved this spinning bucket the best!
We also took Anna on her first subway ride!
We took the subway to Chinatown for some good cheap authentic cuisine. Alastair and I decided we could afford to eat out all the time if we only ate in Chinatown!
My favorite part about Toronto though is that there is a Dundas Street! And it's not just any street - it's a major street in Toronto. So in theory I will never have to spell or tell anyone how say our last name!!
 There's even a Dundas Square!

Last call from Nashville

This is officially our last blog post from Nashville, TN...The movers have been here for two days helping us pack up so we can ship out!It only took...

91 boxes...
And 2 vans to load all our stuff!
Anna of course had her own fun along the way...she marched up and down the cardboard path...

 She explored inside the boxes...
And helped load up the van!
Bye Nashville! See you in Toronto!

Red, White and You!

Every Saturday at Cheekwood Botanical Garden they have a free art project for kids to do and today was the day we decided to check it out! The activity for the kids today was the Red, White and You painting project. Anna got to paint her own star spangled banner! I also decided it was called red, white and you because of the amount of paint the ended up on Anna's face, arms, and clothes!

The finished banner!
After we were done painting we went to see Cheekwood's latest exhibit....trains!
Anna loved the trains but she also kept trying to clinb over the railing to get to the water!

Of course no train exhibit is complete unless you have Thomas the Train!
The we ran along the garden paths.....

only to stop and smell the flowers!
