Snow is a four letter word

It's been spring for a few weeks now and the weather was finally warming up. All the snow finally melted. It's even been warm enough for Matilda and I to spend time outside cleaning up the yard...

We picked up sticks....

and even raked up some leftovers leaves that have been covered by snow for the past 5 months...

We've enjoyed the warm sun....

It's been soooo nice being outside without a million layers of clothes on to keep warm....

And then today happened. It no longer felt like it was almost Easter but rather only days away from Christmas!

Instead of wearing rain boots to school we dug out our snow clothes!

Raise your hand if you're ready for winter to be over! Anyone? (Mother Nature I'm talking to YOU.)

It was spring break last week so we took a break from the sub zero temps and escaped to sunny California! The first thing on our list to do? Make a long awaited dream come true for Anna...a trip Disneyland! To say Anna had fun at Disneyland would be an understatement. Every time we took a photo Anna would quote Rapunzel and yell,"Best Day Ever!" After our time at Disney whenever anyone asked Anna how she liked Disneyland she would say,"Disneyland is where dreams come true!" After 2 days at Disneyland and California Adventure we enjoyed daily trips to the beach and spending time with family and friends. It was the Best. Days. Ever.

Anything you can do I can do better....

Matilda loves Anna....and anything Anna has Matilda wants. Anything Anna does Matilda does...If Anna sings Matilda dances, Anna makes a funny noise Matilda is trying to make the same noise....If Anna sits on pink chair Matilda is right there with her!

As adventurous as Anna is she's also very girly. She loves her hair accessories and now Matilda wants to wear them too. For fun this weekend Anna and I decided to do Matilda's hair....

Disclaimer: While these two look the picture of happiness what you can't see/hear is me is saying something about sharing/be careful/be nice to each other/take turns/any and all things you hear parents constantly saying to their kids...Many times while wiping away tears when one has something the other wants.....!

Return of the Vortex

The polar vortex has returned this week...that means walking walking to school in -20C/-4F temperatures. Only 3 more weeks until the first official day of spring yet I'm not feeling very optimistic that spring is bringing warmer temps...though anything above zero sounds just lovely. And even though this week will again be unbearably cold we have been having fun this winter aka the coldest winter in Canada in the past 25 years.

We've had some incredible amounts of snow and have gotten really good on walking and navigating our way on icy sidewalks. Pushing the stroller through the snow is a better workout than going to any gym!

Anna loves walking through the snow...one day it snowed to waist deep on her causing me to write a letter to Santa asking if it was too late to ask for a snow blower....

and causing Anna to find joy in hopping through the snow!

We started an "igloo" that has been re dug out numerous times from snow fall...

Anna's favourite part of all our snow is the ski hill Alastair built her in the backyard. And because of the Olympics Anna now ends every ski lesson/ski run down the hill with her arms in the air yelling "Yeah!!! Medal!!!!"
