An apple a day....

Today we met some friends at one of the local apple farms....

The apple farm was more than just apples....there was a giant box full of kernals for the kids to play in...

Straw to climb on, slide down....
 and throw in the air!

and no farm trip is complete without a tractor ride...!
Then we were off in the wagon to go pick our apples.
There were sooooo many apples! So many varieties to choose from...don't know which apple to pick? Just pick one and take a bite! Anna had fun picking the apples off the ground....of course we had to quickly grab the half eaten ones from her fast little hands.
These are some of the apples we picked today....in a normal week I buy 3 apples at the grocery store. Today we came home with over 20! This afternoon I used 4 to make a glazed apple cake....only 15 more apples to go....tomorrow we might be making apple cookies, then maybe some apple muffins.....

The Power of the Tower

Yesterday we decided to check out the CN Tower. Standing at 1, 814 feet this was the world's tallest tower for 34 years.
The CN Tower also has a glass floor where you can see all the way to street level. It's a bit dizzying! Anna was very apprehensive about standing on it... she held on tight to my hand and my sister's hand and then took the littlest steps onto the glass.
Then we took a walk around the outdoor observation level where we got a little too close to the edge but thankfully Alastair was able to hold on to Anna!
Another highlight this weekend was Anna's new love for Cinderella and Belle. Auntie Lyn bought her this Cinderella dress and Anna was in love with it at the first sight of the blue tulle covered in glitter. She also has not let go of her new Belle doll. My favorite was tonight when Anna introduced Elmo to Belle... she even had them shake hands!

Explore the Roar!

We've officially lived in Toronto for about 6 weeks now and in that time we've seen a lot of what Toronto has to offer... but this weekend we decided it was time to see the ultimate of all tourist attractions... it was time for us to explore the roar of Niagra Falls! And as a special treat Lyn and Ryan were in town to join us!

Niagra Falls is only a short 90 minute drive from us... and from the moment we arrived we were in awe of the beauty and power of the falls....
But of course we could not be satisfied just with the views from above.... we would have to see the falls closer and that meant going on the Maid of the Mist... a boat ride that takes you up close and personal to the falls....
Please note that this is our before the falls picture.....

First we put on our souvenier raincoats....

And then we got up close and personal with the falls! This is the first waterfall on the tour...it was pretty spectacular but we needed to see the magic of the famous Horseshoe Falls...
And what a sight it was...
it was spectacular....
it was powerful....
and it got us very, very wet....these are our after photos!

Today we were able to see one of the seven wonders of the natural world.....whatever shall we do tomorrow? We're off to see one of the seven wonders of the modern world - the CN Tower! I'd say it's turning out to be a pretty wonderful weekend!
