Fun at 4 months!

Matilda is four months old! Where has the time gone? It still seems a bit surreal that we have 2 kids! Matilda is such a good baby...she's happy, calm...and at least once a week she sleeps thru the night!

At four months old Matilda is taking in everything in the world around her....reaching for toys, following the sound of your voice, rolling over...
sharing lots of smiles (the biggest smiles and laughs are for her big sister Anna!)
 finding her feet...
 and just looking adorably cute!
How did we celebrate Matilda's 4 month birthday? With a dance party! Over Christmas we took Anna to see a pantomime of Cinderella. It was her first play and she loved it. A couple of weeks ago while driving a song came on the radio and Anna yelled out, "It's the new cinderella song!" So of course I had to download the song and now we listen and dance to it every day....on repeat. What song you ask? What Makes you Beautiful by One Direction. Anna has discovered her first boy band and now Alastair and I know all the words to the song!

Brrrrrrrrrrr! Welcome winter weather!

It's cold. And I mean really really cold. It's cold in Canada. This past week has been brutal with the bitter cold. There were days when I took Anna to school and it was 9F/-13C. With the wind chill factor it was sometimes -2F/-18C! The other day it was 12F (-11C) and I actually thought to myself "It feels a bit warmer today!" Last year everyone said it wasn't a "normal" winter....of course I was freezing and now all I can think is "How can anyone call this normal!?" We (by that I mean only once with me and all the rest with Alastair) have braved the cold and taken Anna out in the snow a couple of times. Here are some pictures of Anna enjoying the snow. And now I need to go put on another pair of socks....my toes are cold.
Anna loves catching the snow on her tongue...if it's not falling from the sky she'll throw the snow into the air herself.
Of course if you have snow you must make a snowman!

Or even a snowbear!

A Comrie Christmas

It's been a while since we've posted anything but I'm happy to say we are back on the blog! It's been a crazy couple of months here with illness dominating our lives since the beginning of November. I'm happy to say though we have been sick free for 2 weeks now!
Here are some highlights from Christmas. We were lucky enough to go back to Scotland for 2 weeks!
First there was Christmas cake to decorate...

Followed by a gingerbread house to decorate too...

Cookies for Santa to make
 and of course decorate!
the finished cookies and milk for Santa...and carrots for the reindeer
A 3 month birthday to celebrate! How did Matilda do on her first flight! She was perfect....she slept almost the whole flight!
There were also family photos to take

And a handsome horse named Seamus to ride! Anna was hoping he would go as fast as Maximus and Flynn Rider on Tangled but she was happy with his leisurely stroll!
Lots of cuddles were given...
There was also a fancy dress party to attend...last year Anna came in 3rd place in the fancy dress contest and this year as the Comrie Superhero she came in 2nd place. The funniest part was she kept saying she didn't want a prize (6 pounds/10 dollars! ) all she wanted was the same as last year....
 an apple!
And last but not least there were hill walks to be had!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
