Happy 1st Birthday Matilda! 

Yea! I'm ONE!

She spent the day practicing how to walk...she takes about 3 steps before she falls to her bottom!

A special 1st birthday cake made by Mommy!

Smiles all around from the birthday girl! One would never guess that she spent the night before sick and throwing up!

Matilda was a bit unsure of the frosting...

but she was also excited about the cake...

then she took her first bite....

but didn't seem to like her chocolate cake!

Pandamonium

As a special end of summer treat we took Anna and Matilda to the Toronto Zoo to see the zoo's newest exhibit....the GIANT Pandas! Anna had fun following the panda footprints....

We learned all kinds of interesting panda facts...

What they eat...

how big their paws are...

and my what big teeth they have!

We were also lucky enough to see one of the pandas awake and eating!

Matilda's favorite animals were these silly ones!

All day long Anna kept asking asking to see the animal that climbs up trees and is upside down. We figured out that it was the sloth she wanted to see and started our search for the sloth. At the end of the day we finally found the sloth where, since it's nocturnal, was asleep in a box! 

Regardless Anna was happy to have found the sloth....

Though she didn't like the smell!

Our Little Alarm Clock

It's hard to believe but in just a few weeks Matilda will be a year old! I've started calling her my little alarm clock because every morning without fail she wakes up at 6:30 am. It doesn't matter if she goes to sleep the night before at 8pm or 10pm she will wake at 6:30am. Of course waking up to Matilda is a much nicer sound compared to the blare of an alarm clock!

Much to the cats dismay Matilda has taken to laying on top of him for cuddles...

Back to School

Today was Anna's first day of Junior Kindergarten! Or as we call it - her big girl school!

I've been taking Anna and dropping her off at nursery school for 2 years but this was harder... and it was the first time I've ever had tears leaving her at school. Anna brought this home from her first day of school...looks like it was a bit hard on her too. But she also had lots of fun meeting new friends and playing in the blue kitchen!
