Our Digital World

Yesterday we met up with some friends at the Kids Toronto International Film Festival where they has a digital play space just for kids. All the fun was found with modern technology in today's digital world!

Waiting in line became an adventure in seeing yourself on the big screen!

Our first stop was the Funky Forest...an interactive experience where the kids used there bodies to create trees....
and logs to divert the water and make dams.

Next we were off to The Green Screen where we got ready for our close up....what's that coming out of the snakes mouth?? It's Anna!
A visit to the light and sounds exhibit where we made some music

Adventures in Sound! Here kids said their name in a bucket and the pitch of their voice determined the color they would paint with their virtual paintbrush!

Room Racers where kids raced virtual cars around everyday items..
  A quick lesson from Daddy....
and Anna was off racing her car!
 Fun with the Magic Mirror

But as fun as our digital world is nothing beats a balloon...and were these balloons amazing. You could ask for anything and the ballon makers would make it. While waiting in line we kept asking Anna what kind of balloon she wanted. The answers varied from Batman to a princess to a pink kitty but when it was her turn she said.....???
Here she is getting her head measured for the.....
 Alligator!

A Hopping Good Time

It was a busy Easter weekend for us here in Toronto. It started with Anna coming home from school complete with bunny ears and pink nose! She also kept singing a song that after some careful listening and a quick google search I learned went like this, "Easter bunny soft and white; Hopping quickly out of sight!"

Next we were off to a local Easter Festival. Anna got to meet the Easter bunny but it turns out he is scarier than Santa Claus. I'm sure Anna was hoping he really would hop quickly out of sight! But she did enjoy the free popcorn and balloon animal!
After our visit with the Easter bunny we headed back home where Anna perked up at the idea of making Easter cookies!

Finally it was Easter and no Easter is complete without an Easter egg hunt! Last year Anna found 2 eggs to put in her basket...how many eggs were in Anna's basket this year???
Anna had a lot of eggs in her basket....
 Here's one....
This year Anna found all 42 eggs hidden in our backyard! After she was done finding the eggs Anna declared, "Lots and lots of bunny treats!"
And how many of those eggs had candy in them??
Zero!
The eggs were fun to line up too....I tried to get her to line up all 42 eggs but unfortunately a toddler's attention span doesn't last that long!
 Happy Easter!

Pine Cones!

Last week we had sunny skies and warm temperatures so we spent our afternoons outside. Some days we kicked the ball around, other days we blew bubbles but the day I enjoyed most was when Anna collected the pine cones.
We counted them and lined them up by size...

Then we discovered the frisbee made a great way to collect our pine cones.

Dinner anyone??

Spring Break 2012

Anna was on spring break from school last week so we took off to California to meet Anna's new cousin Logan and to soak up some California sunshine! Here is Anna with Logan - this is the closest she got to him the whole week we were there! While Anna likes to talk about baby Logan she was very wary about going anywhere near him!
A swing with a view - no trip to Santa Monica is complete without a trip to the beach....
A perfect day for running in the sand...
And practicing our yoga!
Anna loves the beach!
We also took Anna to the La Brea Tar Pits while we were in LA. This was probably the highlight of the trip for her. Ever since that visit every time we get in the car Anna asks if we're going to see the dinosaurs.
Anna's favorite dinosaur was the mastadon which she called an elephant. In front of the museum there is a display that depicts the mastadon stuck in the tar. The other day Anna was playing with the toy mastadon she got by laying it on its side and pretending that it was stuck. She kept telling me the elephant was stuck! Who got to to rescue the animal? Barbie!
Anna comparing her hand to a dinosaur footprint
 Inspecting the dinosaur bones....
After the dinosaurs we went to The Grove where Anna practiced her shopping...

And enjoyed her first ice cream cone from the LA Farmer's Market!

XOXOXO

When I picked Anna up from nursery school today the teacher told us the kids had their hands full and had quite a load today. Wow! The teacher wasn't joking...here is what Anna got at her Valentine's Day party.

In addition to Valentines's Day cards, Anna got 3 tubs of play dough, stickers. a heart necklace, candy, and a homemade cupcake wrapped in a box with a pretty red bow! School should always be this fun!

Last week in school Anna's class made a candy necklace with fruit loops as the candy. This was a big hit with Anna. Here is a before shot....

Anna ate every fruit loop loop in no time at all...
What was left of her necklace when the "candy" was gone!
And what did Mommy and Daddy get Anna for Valentine's Day??? Her very own red heart balloon!
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
